This book received rave reviews at Amazon so my anticipation peaked
in beginning to read it. Added to the reviews, I have read every one
of Dan's previous books and the majority of them are excellent.
However, my encounter with this book let me somewhat disappointed.
The principles and thoughts about leadership are not lacking in
accuracy or in practicality, but the content did not seem to go the
root of leading complexities.
"Leading With A Limp" seemed to be quickly written and tended to
offer sketchy resolution. Difficult, excruciating or even evil
circumstances do not necessitate brokenness in a leader. Brokenness
comes as the heart is available to God's movement and enlargement in
the midst of rejection, false accusation and attack.
Perhaps I am spoiled by Dan's excellent works such as Bold Love
or Cry Of The Soul because this one just did not
cut it for me. The theme of the book - making the most of your
weakness or flaws is not unfamiliar to those who understand 2 Cor.
12:7-10. While I do not care for this book, others have seemed to
benefit from it. Therefore, while not recommending it, it may be OK
reading to others.
